Norman Gardens, located in the Rockhampton region of Queensland, benefits from significant road infrastructure that enhances connectivity within the suburb and to neighboring areas. The Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road, which includes Yaamba Road along the western boundary and Yeppoon Road along the northern boundary, runs concurrently with the Bruce Highway, providing major transport routes for residents and businesses.

The suburb also has a deep-rooted history in education. St Nicholas’ Catholic Primary School was originally opened in Koongal in 1908 by Archbishop James Duhig and was managed by the Sisters of Mercy. In 1981, the school relocated to Norman Gardens and was renamed St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, continuing its tradition of providing quality education.

Norman Park Christian School opened its doors in 1994 with 25 students as an initiative of the Norman Park Baptist Church. It was later renamed Lighthouse Christian School in 2004 and now serves students from Prep through Year 12. As of 2018, Lighthouse Christian School had an enrolment of 238 students supported by a dedicated team of teachers and staff.

Norman Gardens is also home to Emmaus College, a co-educational Catholic secondary school formed in 1983 through the merger of St Stanislaus College (established in 1958) and Marian College (established in 1964). The campus for Years 7-9 is located at Yaamba Road in Norman Gardens. In 2018, Emmaus College had over 1,200 students with a substantial faculty and staff base, reflecting its importance as a key secondary education provider in the area.

Higher education is well represented by Central Queensland University’s Rockhampton North Campus situated within Norman Gardens, further enhancing the suburb’s role as an educational hub.

The population of Norman Gardens has grown steadily, increasing from 9,944 in the 2016 census to 10,534 in 2021, a trend supported by the suburb’s accessible infrastructure and strong schooling options. This combination of transport accessibility and quality education makes Norman Gardens an appealing community for families and students in the Rockhampton region.
